Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) Stretching is the best form of stretching for improved flexibility and range of motion. This is a great choice for rehabilitating injured muscles.

PNF Stretching Technique

PNF Stretching rotates between a static stretch-and-hold and isometric contraction of the muscle being stretched. First, the muscle group is positioned so that the muscles are stretched and under tension. After a moment, you will contract the muscle by pushing against further tension applied by the therapist. Finally the muscle group is again stretched, moving past its normal range of motion.

Benefits

  • Improved neuromuscular control

  • Increased range of motion

  • Improved coordination

  • Promotes muscle relaxation

  • Improved muscular stability

  • Prevents tense muscle fibers common after a workout
